Yi Up was born on December 26, 1937 in Seoul, South Korea. She immigrated to the United States with her husband and children in 1981 to begin a new life and to provide her family the opportunity to live the American Dream.
Yi Up Sung will be remembered for her strong spirit and deep pride in her family. She found great joy in gardening, often sharing her own produce, and loved tending to her beautiful garden of flowers. She also had a talented hand for knitting and sewing. She loved traveling and cherished every moment spent with her family — especially proud of all the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children - Laksun, Lakjin (Andy), Lakbun (Bonnie), and Dukhi (Sheila), nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sang Yong, and eldest son, Lakyoung.
Yi Up Sung will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all whose lives she touched.
