Edd is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mignonne, sons Kim (Wende), Kevin (Katrina) and daughter Kalinda (Dragan), brother Gerry and grandchildren Mark, Katie, Ashton, Keyton, Shawn, and great grandchild Hudson.
He was predeceased by his parents Abram, Justina, and brother Leonard.
Edd was born in Saskatchewan in 1935 and lived his 89 years full of life and laughter. He was best known for talking to ‘anyone’ and connecting with ‘everyone’. He was a strong family man, well-respected by many who met him, and shared many experiences and stories while also being an amazing listener. He saw the best in everyone.
From a young age, he wanted to serve as an RCMP officer. He joined in 1955, and as a proud Member of the RCMP, he was never shy to intervene or interject on situations that needed attention. He served with great passion for 35 years in several locations throughout Saskatchewan and British Columbia until his retirement in 1992.
He promoted the Dale Carnegie school of thinking, loved Robert Service poems, and contributed to community through donation and volunteering (Salvation Army, Gleaners, Mennonite Disaster Services).
Edd created new adventures everywhere he went. Being from the Prairies, Edd enjoyed the lakes and oceans of BC and travelled with his wife to many countries across the world. Many of the travels were by motorcycle, across Canada, North America, and even in Europe.
Edd Olfert is remembered with respect and gratitude for his dedication to Family, the Community, and for his service to Canada.
