I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Arnell's passing. He was an excellent teacher and a very kind person, whose classes I loved and whose lessons I remember to this day.

So sorry to hear of George's passing.  We have fond memories of our times together while neighbors on 46th Avenue in Langley, as well as the fun camping trips we enjoyed with the girls. Our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time.

To start, I want to express my sincere condolences to all of George's family and friends. Although we taught in the same school for 15 years, we never worked side by side as many in the English department. With George that didn't matter. He had a presence through his daily activities and routines that were uniquely him. I fondly remember him leaving the building at day's end with a pile of papers and/or books under his arm going out the front door. To walk past his classroom outside instruction time meant you often had the image of George sitting at his desk with a student across from him discussing a variety of novels. I always remember him as a tall person with a smile, with those unique glasses, always with a friendly greeting. Often we would find ourselves in the men's washroom between classes. There would be a quick hello, a little joke (always in good taste), or something else that would bring a smile to your face. Even after retirement, George shone either when he delivered devilled duck eggs (fresh from his Mission estate) to teachers on picket duty in front of the school or when we'd surprisingly cross paths and visit like long lost friends. George was a class act, someone who will be remembered by colleagues and students for many years to come.

There are few teachers in my educational career that I have liked and respected as much as Mr. Arnell.  He provided inspiration and encouragement during difficult teenage years.  I was so sorry to hear of his passing.  I send you my deepest sympathies for your loss.

Marna:  I am sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, we worked together at BCIT and I know how much you looked forward to the days you and he could share your times together in retirement, may those memories console you at this difficult time.

I worked with George at Mountain Secondary school for 21 years. He was an excellent English teacher, well liked by staff and students alike. After he retired, we continued our friendship, and spent many evenings discussing life and our place in it. I will always consider George to have been an excellent friend, and am saddened by news of his passing.
