It is with profound sadness that the family of George Herbert Holland announces his peaceful passing on June 7, 2025, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, following a brief but courageous battle with metastatic brain cancer. He was surrounded by his two children and son-in-law in his final moments.
George lived in Qualicum Beach with his beloved wife and best friend, Margaret. He leaves behind his children, Stacey (Norm) and Shane, as well as his cherished grand-dogs, Scribbles and Goober. George will be deeply missed by his siblings, countless friends, and every neighborhood dog who knew his pockets were always filled with treats.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and George Sr. of Ville Émard, Quebec, his sister Anne and his in-laws, Trina and Harry Makis of LaSalle, Quebec.
Born and raised in Montreal, George met and later married Margaret in 1973. His career with DuPont Canada led them across Ontario, and in 2017, they settled in British Columbia. George could fix anything! He loved his cars, quiet days reading in his chair, and tending to his majestic gardens alongside Margaret. Most of all, he treasured time spent with family and friends. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled.
A true lover of food, George asked to be remembered whenever friends and family enjoy ice cream, a Dilallo burger, or a greasy slice of Montreal pizza.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The Holland family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital Cancer Centre, ER, Baker 2, and Palliative Care units. Your compassion and care meant the world to us.
