Born in Nelson, B.C. to Elwood and Hilda McGregor, Monty was raised along with 4 siblings; big sister Frances, twin brother Jack, and younger brothers Tom and Alex. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Myrna (nee Skapple), children Joel and Glennis, granddaughter Evelyn, and brother Alex.
After high school he was accepted as an officer cadet at Royal Roads Military College in Victoria, which he attended for two years, followed by two more years at Royal Military College at Kingston. He graduated from RMC with Honors B.eng (civil) in 1962. After graduation, he serves 3 years in the RCAF as a Telecommunications Officer, before leaving the military and beginning his civilian career as a Highway Engineer in Alberta.
He retired in 1992 and moved back to his home province of B.C., first residing in White Rock and then in Mission. In his retirement years, his main human contacts were his dear extroverted Myrna, his children, and granddaughter, and maybe a neighbor or two.
All in all, considering his starting point, he didn't do too badly.
