It is with tremendous sadness we announce the passing of Winifred Jones Perrier (nee Cardow) at the age of 89 after a brief battle with cancer. Winnie was born in Rutherglen, Scotland on August 1, 1928 and went to be with her husband Len (Lionel) on March 10, 2018.
Winifred moved from Scotland to Powell River, BC to marry Len in 1962. Due to his military career they had the opportunity to live in various places across Canada and Germany, finally settling in Ottawa in 1976. They lived happily there for many years spending time with family and travelling until Len's passing in 1994.
In 2012 Winnie moved to Mission, BC with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved living in BC where she spent her days sitting out in her garden in the sunshine, reading, going out for lunch with friends, BC road trips with her daughter and son-in-law and attending church.
Winnie is survived by her daughter Beverly, son-in-law Tom, granddaughter Ashley (Calvin) and great-grandchildren Ellen and Emerson. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family. Winnie was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth.
We will miss her wonderful sense of humour, cheerful nature and love of life. Her inner strength was truly inspiring.
Thank you to the staff at Maplewood House in Abbotsford for taking such great care of her in the short time she was there. Your gentleness and kindness are greatly appreciated.
By Winifred's request a private service was held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on March 15, 2018 followed by burial in Ottawa this spring.
