

McAllen – Mrs. Olivia T. Salinas, 90, “Ama Olivia” entered into eternal rest on March 2, 2015 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. She was born on March 4, 1924 in Peñitas, Texas to Jose Trevino and Amelia Salinas+.
Olivia was a devout catholic and a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. She was an excellent mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Her nieces and nephews called her “Ama Olivia” because they saw her as another mother. She helped everybody that needed help and she never said no. Ama Olivia always had food for everybody.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Amelia Trevino, her brothers Juan, Juvencio, Adabeto and Ruben Trevino and by her grandson Mario Alberto Salinas Jr. who she raised like a son.
She is survived by her children Horacio(Maria), Baldemar, Jose Manuel(Mague), Diamantina Villegas(Rafael) of Wasco, CA, Mario A. (Maria Luisa) of San Antonio, TX, Juana Trevino (Reynaldo) and Amanda; her grandson Johnny Villegas who she raised like a son; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces she loved like her own since she helped raise them.
Visitation will be held today, March 4, 2015 at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission. Services are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel of Mission.
