

Oscar Benavidez spent his childhood in Comales, Tamaulipas before immigrating to the United States with his parents and siblings, eventually residing in Sanger, California. He was very fond of his time in California where he had four sons. He enjoyed working as a mechanic. He eventually settled in McAllen, Texas after marrying Hortencia Ramon with whom he had four children.
Oscar Benavidez will be remembered for his sense of humor, his personality, and his love of daily journeys to El Rex Cafe in McAllen to socialize with his friends, drink coffee, and read "El Mañana". He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Left to lovingly remember him are his siblings Lydia Reyna (Fortino) of Pharr, Antonio Benavidez (Luisa) of Sanger, California, and Alicia (Alvaro) Hernandez of McAllen. Children Andy Tela (Leticia) of Dinuba, California, Ruben Gomez (Emma) of Reedley, California, Oscar Benavides Jr. (Ana) of Pharr, Magaly Benavidez (Tom) of Alton, Juan Manuel Benavidez of La Porte, Texas, Elizabeth Rodriguez (Jose)of Mission, and Arturo Benavidez of San Antonio, Texas, 12 grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel of Remembrance.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel of Remembrance with burial to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel, 3611 Taylor Road, Mission, Texas 78573.
