Born on June 23, 1965, in Edinburg, Texas, Victor was the beloved son of Joe and Maggie Hopper. He is received in heaven by his parents, his sister Marissa Salvatore, and his grandmother Magdalena Gutierrez.
Victor carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and humor with him throughout his life.
Victor served his country honorably as a United States Marine during his younger years, but spent most of his working years as a correctional officer for Hidalgo County Jail. He enjoyed working with his coworkers and trustees. He retired from Hidalgo County Jail in 2021.
Victor met the love of his life, Stephanie Gaye Salvatore in 1999, and together they shared 21 years of marriage, filled with laughter, road trips, and countless memories. He was a devoted husband, a caring and supportive father, and a proud grandfather. He leaves behind his cherished children: Victor James Salvatore III and Courtney Ray Stuart, and his adored grandchildren: Victor James Salvatore IV and Vincenzo Salvatore. He is also survived by his sister, Mona Lisa Hopper, his brother, Joe Hopper Jr, by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will deeply miss his presence.
Victor was widely known in his family as an intelligent man. He’s often called for advice and help crunching numbers. He was also always ready with a joke or a funny story. His sharp wit and quick humor brought joy to every gathering. Aside from his wit, he was also stubbornly principled, fiercely loyal, endlessly generous, and deeply loving. He believed in second chances, often offering support and forgiveness when others needed it most.
A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, Victor never missed a game, no matter where he was. He found peace in fishing, joy in road-tripping across the country, and meaning in simply being present for those he loved. He traveled with his family from coast to coast, made memories and left his mark.
Victor James Salvatore Jr. lived a life full of purpose, laughter, and love. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his spirit will forever ride along every open road and cast line.
