In 1947, Brigitte escaped under the Berlin wall to West Germany before traveling to Canada at
age nineteen. In Canada, she wrote an advertisement in the newspaper to find a husband and
was married to Anton Schoenhoefer in 1958. They had three children Manfred, Reinhard, and
Herbert Schoenhoefer. Brigitte lived in many countries, including Germany, United States, Africa
and Australia.
Brigitte loved the ocean, sitting on the beach, knitting, tending to her flowers that were always
perfectly in bloom, and watching The Price is Right. She also was known for her incredible
baking skills which she shared with her family by baking weekly Marble and Poppy Seed cakes,
cookies, and sweets as well as telling her childhood stories with fondness and joy. Her vibrant
and candid personality will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Anna Schnee, her two sisters Inge
Reinboth, Irma Gentsch, and her two brothers Kurt Schnee, and Gerhardt Schnee.
Brigitte is survived by her three sons Manfred, Reinhard (Lisa), and Herbert (Linda)
Schoenhoefer; her five grandchildren Nathaniel (Denise) Schoenhoefer, Alessandro
Schoenhoefer, Isabelle (Nick) Schoenhoefer Parton, Annalisa Schoenhoefer, and Sofia
Schoenhoefer; her three great-children Nariah Schoenhoefer, Eliza Schoenhoefer, and Alessio
Parton. Brigitte is survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany.
