(March 10, 1955 – June 14, 2025)
Information Technology Executive, Racing Enthusiast, Devoted Husband and Father
David Anthony Snyder crossed the finish line of a remarkable life on June 14, 2025, at age 70, surrounded by family and memories of a well-lived life.
Born in Boston Massachusetts, David was a man of sharp intellect, dry wit, and enduring loyalty. He spent more than four decades as a respected leader in the information technology world, rising through the ranks to become a trusted executive known for streamlining complex systems and mentoring young talent. He often said, “Good information builds great decisions,” and lived that principle professionally and personally.
David held a degree in Mathematics & Computer Science. He was a pioneer in enterprise data systems as President and CEO of FlashTax software where he developed Electronic Filing of Federal Income Tax Returns in the early 1990's. He later brought his expertise to the restaurant technology sector, working with Slick Technologies as President and CIO for 15 years and then at Del Taco for almost 17 years where he retired as CIO/CTO in 2023 after what was clearly a highly successful career. David led with clarity, vision, and integrity building strong teams, modernizing infrastructures, and guiding a generation of professionals.
Outside the boardroom, David found his greatest joy at the track. A passionate racing enthusiast, he spent countless weekends with his family at NASCAR events in Ontario, California. In the late 1990's, he channeled his love for another sport by developing Power Picks Handicapping Software, a reflection of his deep expertise in sports analytics and the U.S. horse racing industry. David knew every horse, every trainer, and every underdog with a chance. To him, a racing form read like a novel, full of stories waiting to unfold. Derby Day wasn’t just a date on the calendar, it was a treasured holiday, marked with excitement.
Ever the gracious and generous host of many backyard poolside barbeques and Thanksgiving gatherings, David was sure to keep the bonds of family and friends securely connected in an environment filled with great food and good humor.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dottie, with whom he shared thirty-two wonderful years of partnership, laughter, and mutual devotion. Since her passing in 2010, he often spoke of her as his greatest win. He was also preceded in death by his father, Henry Snyder, and his sister, Deborah Snyder Cooper, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his two children, Crystal (Willis) Jensen and Jonathan (Sheila) Snyder; his cherished grandson Reiner Jensen, his mother Barbara Snyder and sisters Karen Snyder (husband, Michael Schultz), Cheryl (Gary) Scott and Kelly (Brian) Padrick, he is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins near and far; and his extended family of friends, colleagues, and fellow racing fans.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held in late September 2025 in Mission Viejo, CA. Details will be shared with friends and family as plans are finalized. Attendees are invited to wear their Derby best; bright ties, colorful dresses, and wide-brimmed hats as we gather to share stories and honor a man who never stopped believing in long shots and lasting love.
