

Harold (Hal) Roy Hufford Jr. passed away May 28, 2022 in Mission Viejo, California after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Hal was born June 29, 1955, the eldest of seven children to the late Harold R.Hufford and Ann (Barbich) Hufford in Boulder, Colorado. He was a 1973 graduate from Mount Vernon High School and the University of Iowa. On June 22, 2007, he married Jana Hunter in Oahu, Hawaii. Hal is survived by his wife Jana, his siblings, Joe (Karen), Mike (Tracy), Paul, Carol (Brendan) Deely, Cathy and Beth, his children Matthew and Megan (fiancé Eric Detwiler), his mother-in-law Bobbe Hunter, his brother-in-law Dana (Cheryl) Hunter, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ann Hufford and his nephew Gabriel Deely. Hal excelled in athletics in high school, both as a quarterback on the football team and a starter on the 1973 undefeated state basketball championship team. Hal was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan and sports fan. After graduation from the University of Iowa, Hal spent 23 years working for the Maytag Corporation, and then continued his career in the appliance industry working for Marcone and Cal Spas. Mass of celebration will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 29th at St. Kilian Catholic Church. The mass will be available via Livestream at www.stkilianmissionviejo.org. Luncheon to follow at Fairhaven mortuary, 27856 Center Dr, Mission Viejo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
