Joan E. Jenkins, 71, died peacefully on August 18, 2025. Joan was a long-time resident of Dana Point, Calif. She was born in Portland, Ore., on October 16, 1953, the youngest daughter of John A. Gloden and Patricia M. Gloden. An avid reader, Joan had a lively intelligence, an investigative spirit, and a gentle sense of humor. We remember her love of televised sports, her dedicated gardening, and her joy in the natural world—butterflies, birds, and little rabbits. She is survived by her siblings Gail Richardson (George) and Paul Gloden (Rosemary Joe) and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Michael (Mike) Jenkins; her son, Richard J. Jenkins; her parents; and her siblings Martha M. Gloden and Fred J. Gloden. We are grateful to the physicians and staff at Providence Mission Hospital Mission Viejo for their excellent care, and for the support of Joan’s caring neighbors.
