Luis was born in Callao, Peru and migrated to the United States in 1961. He actively served the United States Air Force (USAF) from January 14, 1963 to January 4, 1967. He remained in the reserves until January 13, 1969, at which time he was Honorably Discharged as Staff Sergeant E-5. He was awarded with the USAF Good Conduct Medal and USAF National Defense Service Medal. He was instrumental in supporting the Strategic Air Command mission, which is a unit of the nation’s long-range atomic striking force.
Luis met his wife, Elia, in December of 1970 at a Christmas celebration in New York. They married in Reno, Nevada on June 20, 1971 and, again, on June 26, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Church in Los Angeles, California. They first lived in a lovely home in West Hollywood, moved to Inglewood, and, finally, to West Covina where they resided upon the blessing of their first daughter, Carissa, on January 10, 1974, and their blessed second daughter, Brenda, on January 1, 1975. During this time, he attended California State Polytechnic University and graduated on December 6, 1974 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Data Processing. In 1975, he and his growing family moved to El Toro, then to Mission Viejo where they resided upon the blessing of their third daughter, Vanessa, on August 20, 1980. Their love continued to flourish, raising the three loves of their lives, as they shared many countless adventures camping, boating, fishing, swimming, bicycling, snow playing, traveling domestically and internationally, and so much more, all while teaching the values of life, sharing their wisdom, and instilling their Catholic beliefs. They temporarily moved to San Juan Capistrano until the completion of their final home in 1983 where they, finally, settled in Laguna Niguel. He passed in the comfort of his own home surrounded by the infinite love of his family. He was a determined husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather who will always be remembered as our Hero, our Role Model, and our Inspiration! We will forever love you and continue to impart your legacy!
