Madden Robert Ohlwiler was born on April 7, 2022 to Kyle and Hayley Ohlwiler. He was a light and a joy from the minute he was born. He was the smiliest, sweetest boy, who loved everyone unconditionally. Madden’s face would always light up and he would wave his arms around, kicking his legs, until he was picked up.
Madden had the most prominent and adorable chin dimple, which was affectionately known as his “lifesaver chin,” because it resembled a lifesaver that had been stuck onto his chin. He had eyes so dark blue that when he was born the nurses had to put him under a light to make sure they weren’t brown. We will never forget his feathery blonde hair, that poked out of the top of his blue helmet, not to mention the little blonde curls that would curl around the base of his helmet.
Madden was a determined little guy. Once he got his mind set on something it couldn’t be changed very easily. There were countless times when his parents would see him glance back at them to make sure they were far enough away from him and then he would race them to the corner where the remote was kept, (where he knew they didn’t want him to go), before they could reach him. And any time they would try to tell him “no,” he would stare at them, break into a big grin, crinkle his nose, and start laughing. Of course, as you can imagine, they couldn’t stay serious for very long.
Most recently, Madden had been learning to walk and his new favorite pastime was to hold onto one of his parents’ fingers and sprint around the apartment with his little tiny legs. When he wasn’t sprinting or toddling around, he loved opening and closing doors. He would do this over and over again and never get tired of it.
His parents never felt closer to heaven than when Madden came into their lives. He had the absolute sweetest temperament and his giggles would instantly make everyone else smile and laugh. His smile never left his face. He was the happiest, most easy-going baby.
We will miss our sweet Madden so dearly, and we are mourning and grieving his absence, but we know he is in the arms of our Savior, and that we will see him again. For now, he is our little guardian angel. “Peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high” (Doctrine & Covenants 121:7)
A funeral service for Madden will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 27976 Marguerite Pkwy, Mission Viejo, CA 92690.
