Monir Falsafi Nahid, the icon of Kurdish diaspora, the noted mother of all diasporic Kurds and Iranians in Southern California died on Thursday, November 7, 2019, in Greater Los Angeles after living in exile for over 40 years, raising two grandchildren, building extensive bonds within and across communities, and a fruitful history of political and cultural activism against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Her death has deprived us all of her spirit of generosity, her repository of collective memory, her familiar warmth and wisdom. We have lost a uniquely sensitive, sympathetic, arduous, and artistic woman, a formidable pillar of resistance and endurance against oppression everywhere.
She is survived by her daughter Roya Nahid, sons Moncher, Hassan & Reshad, son-in-law Masoud, daughter-in-law Mahin, and grandchildren John & Sam Shahidi, Hiwa, Renee, Tava, Sheerin, Ayoub, Shkak & Shler.
Please do not bring flowers.
