He is survived by his beloved wife (Marti Cortez), his son and daughter-in-law (Nick Geiser, PhD and Allison Lipscomb), his daughter (Gabi Geiser), his sister and brother-in-law (Deb and Wayne Nathanson), his brother and sister-in-law (Paul and Jackie Geiser), and many cherished members of his extended family. Before his passing, Rick asked Marti to express his heartfelt gratitude to the friends, family, and neighbors whose love and support carried him through a four-year fight with pancreatic cancer.
Rick grew up in Florissant, MO and graduated from McCluer North High School in 1974. He later attended the University of Missouri–St. Louis while playing American Legion Baseball and honing his bowling skills at Dick Weber Lanes.
Rick spent his entire professional career in Missouri and earned a reputation as a dedicated and hard worker, excelling in planning and production control. Rick began his career on the production line and was promoted over the years. He worked for General Motors, McDonnell Aircraft Company (now part of Boeing), Engineered Air Systems, Bohn & Dawson, and Pfizer, from which he retired in 2018. During his time at Pfizer, he took great pride in supporting the production of EpiPens and other auto-injectors that played a vital role in public health and national security.
In 1994, Rick married his beloved wife, Marti Cortez. They met while both working at McDonnell Aircraft Company and shared thirty-two years of marriage filled with love and laughter. In 2019, they relocated from St. Louis, MO to Sugar Land, TX. Throughout Rick’s courageous battle with cancer, Marti faithfully cared for him.
Rick had a lifelong passion for sports and physical fitness, a commitment that undoubtedly extended his life despite his terminal diagnosis. He trained with weights and was an accomplished competitive bowler, achieving two perfect 300 games and earning championship rings from the United States Bowling Congress. He was also a talented baseball player and devoted golfer. Rick remained a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues throughout his life.
Beyond athletics, Rick enjoyed cooking, home improvement, landscaping, and fishing. He loved to visit the Lake of the Ozarks, South Padre Island, and Cancún. He will be fondly remembered for his delicious meals, his impeccable home, and his beautifully manicured lawn. Above all, he took pride in caring for the people and places he loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rick Geiser’s honor to UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.
