Agnes Patricia Deen, “Tricia”, 72, a native and lifelong resident of Alabama, died surrounded by family in Daphne, AL on December 27, 2020 after covid-19 catapulted her dementia to a place from which she could not recover.
Tricia is survived by her husband, Jim Deen; her three children, Catherine (and Vince) Novak, Cheryl (and Scott) Frye and Patrick (and Liz) Callaghan; her six grandchildren, Josh and Simon Novak, Bella Frye, Wynne and Maria Morris and Lennon Callaghan; two siblings, Jan Nobles and Steve “Boo” Sherrin; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Callaghan; her brother, Johnny Sherrin; her sister, Carolyn Guynes; her brother-in-law, Fred Nobles; and her parents, John and Janice Sherrin.
Tricia was born in Mobile, AL on July 22, 1948. She was baptized and raised in the Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Matthews and McGill-Toolen. Tricia devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a cheerleading coach, Tee-Ball Commissioner, on the Toy Bowl Board, room mother, Brownies’ Troop Leader, and a volleyball, baseball, football, basketball, and PTA volunteer. She enjoyed the holidays and always included Patrick Callaghan, Sr., the father of her children, in family celebrations. Tricia joined the Order of Polka Dots (OOP) in May of 1982 and became an Active Member in 1985. She enjoyed serving on numerous committees, oftentimes as their Chair. In 2000-2001, Tricia was given the OOP’s greatest honor when she was named Emblem (Gypsy Queen). In 2009, Tricia became an honorary OOP, a position she continued throughout the rest of her life.
Tricia would brighten any room with her smile. She truly loved life. She was generous, selfless, funny, energetic, kind, genuine, loyal, strong, and true. Tricia was an avid Alabama fan who looked forward to football season all year long. Her family and friends were her life and she was a blessing to everyone who knew her. Tricia will be missed by so many, but she is now celebrated (and probably taking charge) in Heaven with her vibrant smile and joyous temperament, free, soaring amongst the Angels.
