
Aldruda May Elder Hines - beloved mother, grandmother, and teacher, 90 years old, went to join her husband today, September 1, 2011, in the presence of the Lord. Mrs. Hines was born in Moss Point, MS and was a long time resident of Grand Bay, AL. She was a passionate teacher who loved each and every student that she had during her 22 years (1961 – 1983) at Mobile County School and later at Castlen Elementary. Mrs. Hines is preceded in death by her husband, E.D Hines Jr., her five siblings (Julietta Verbeke, Oscar Elder, Hollis Elder, Violet DeLancey, and Beatrice Townsend), her oldest child (Francis Lamar Hines), and two grandsons (Thomas Howard Jr and Robert “Robby” Hines Jr). Her loving family that she leaves in life for a short while include: three children (Linda Kay Howard [Earl], Jacqueline “Jackie” Rettig [Paul], and Robert Hines Sr [Linda]); twelve grandchildren (David Howard [Laniese], Mark Rettig [Shari], Darlene Howard-Sprinkle, Rhonda Gil [Scott], Gary Rettig [Becky], Dennis Howard [Davalyn], Ashley Rettig, Brandy Hines, James “Jimmy” Hines, Susan Tipp [Chad], Karen Henderson [Brandon]), and Rene' Rich); twenty-one great-grandchildren (PFC Devin Sprinkle, Brianne Sprinkle, Hayley Howard, Shelbey Howard, Caleb Rettig, Hannah Rettig, Rachel Rettig, Jordan Howard, Morgan Howard, Ian Rettig, Alex Rettig, Caleb Hines, Kaytlyn Hines, Ashley Gill, Autumn Gill, Tate Pollock, Ramsay Tipp, Aurora Tipp, Sawyer Tipp, Georgia Tipp, Jaylen Henderson, Linda Rich, Jeorgette Lee, and Teagan Lee); one great-great-grandchild (Adam Sprinkle); one grandchild-at-heart (Jacinda Sprinkle), and two great-grandchildren-at-heart (Gavin Sprinkle and GraLynn Maples). A celebration of her life will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Three Notch Rd in Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. A brief funeral service will take place the afternoon of September 3, at 3:30pm in the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hines will be David Howard, Mark Rettig, Gary Rettig, PFC Devin Sprinkle, Caleb Rettig, Chad Tipp, Brandon Henderson, Eric Godwin, and Leslie Pendleton.
