Mom was an extraordinary person, her virtues are defined as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. The list goes on and on. To know our mom is to love her.
She was married to our Dad, William Loewen, for 67 years. She had many life-long friends. Especially, Pauline Chestang and Mary Lou Dorgan, but her family always came first.
Everyone knew that mom had a lot of kids. She started out very young with eight kids. Dad was working most of the time, so mama was who we relied on. She was always by our sides, always there to lend a helping hand, to listen and encourage.
She made our humble house a home. We never thought we were poor because we were loved so richly. Most people think that, when you are from a big family, you get lost in the crowd, but, not with Mom. Mom treated each of us as if we were her only child. We thought we had it all because mom was always there with something warm to eat, and a smile from ear to ear.
Mom inspired, encouraged, and molded all her kids. Mom accomplished more in her lifetime than most. She raised eight well respected kids and taught us all to watch out for each other. People have always talked about how close our family has always been and that is because of our Mom.
As a large family we shared so much through the years; happiness, sadness, and lots of great times. But through it all mom remained our net. She was the kind of Mom where, if there was only four pieces of pie, she would promptly explain that she never really liked pie that much. We always knew she would be there to catch us if we were to fall. She taught each of us how to be a good parent from her infinite patience, forgiveness, generosity, reassurance and compassion. She taught us that having faith in God will forever keep us strong and get us through anything. Mom always put our needs above hers and treated each of us like a treasure.
I had good kids (by Detta).
We Love you Mom!
