Born to his parents, Arthur Shirley Bowling Sr. and Jessi Mae Huffman Bowling of Mobile Alabama. Skipper was raised on Stein Street in Springhill, when the roads were still dirt.. he often told stories of him and his neighborhood friends running wild and creating great adventures together. He Graduated from Murphy High School and went on to make a career for himself at Chevron Refinery. He shared his life with the love of his life, his wife, Shelby Breland Bowling.. They were married for 65 years, which included fun nights of jitter bugging, hunting and camp adventures, boat rides, shrimping, fishing, growing turnips, RV caravanning with friends, living on the Tensaw river, Delta River camp life, many boat rides, frog gigging, raw oyster eating, Ribs and steak grilling on his treasured Traeger, his favorite Pastor, Dr. Charles Stanley teaching about His Lord and Savior, and sharing conversations about his Faith and how Jesus is the answer to every situation in your life, “give it to Jesus” is what he loved to say. And last but not at all least, watching his children grow up and give him Grandchildren, which he was the best Pawpaw they could ever ask for.
Skipper is preceded in death by his parents, sister Frankie White-Spunner, His first Grandchild, John Claude Phillips, and his son in law, Ricky Carlsen. Skipper transitioned into Heaven after a lengthy illness, on February 25, 2025. The lives of those he has touched will forever feel the void of his laughter, jokes, generous heart, upbeat and friendly personality and invites to eat what ever his lovely Bride cooked.
He is survived by his beautiful and adoring wife, Shelby Breland Bowling, one sister, Jackie Brettel, three children, Elizabeth Leigh Phillips (Ray), Arthur Shirley Bowling III, “Buck”, (Kim), Marty Janell Carlsen, (Ricky).
