Augustus Leon "Speck" Lyons Jr.

Augustus Leon Lyons, Jr. “Speck”, born January 29, 1938, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, November 26, 2017. Mr. Lyons was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman, loved oystering, watching Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves. He was a retired firefighter for the City of Mobile. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lucinda A. Lyons, daughter, Julie Anne (Mark) Collier and son William Rhodes. He also survived by his grandchildren; Ric (India) Collier, Joshua (Kayla) Collier, Jacob Rhodes , Vanessa Rhodes, Shawn, Tyler, Hayden and Ava Rhodes, his sisters, Patricia (Leroy) Weise, Helen Jean (Donald) Johnson, Katie Hodge, Ronnie-Ann (Ronnie) Summerlin, Tammy Lee, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Lenora Lyons, son, Augustus “Gus” I. Lyons, son, Karl Wesley Rhodes, daughter-in-law, Jessica Rhodes and his brother, Daniel Lyons. Visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Center on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church, in Heron Bay on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Dorlon Cemetery. The family wishes to express their special thanks to Leah Washington and Springhill Home and Hospice Care, Newman’s Ambulance and the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care of South Mobile. Serving as pallbearers will be Ric Collier, Josh Collier, Sean Johnson, Jeremy Summerlin, Billy Rhodes and Tommy Busby.
