Bernice J Jones Hilburn

Bernice Jones Hilburn, we are celebrating the going home of our dear mother and grandmother. She was born in Alexandria, Virginia, and had lived in Mobile for over 44 years. She was a charter and dedicated member of the St. Elmo Church of God. Our mother loved God and her family more than anything. She never met a stranger, and was willing to go over and beyond to help people out. Mrs. Hilburn worked many years as a caregiver. She passed away peacefully at her home, with family by her side. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Eddie McKinley, and her second husband, David Hilburn, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Joe (Penny) McKinley, Wanda (Lonnie) Carlisle, Brenda (Robert) Wilkerson, Charles (Wanda) Hilburn, Diane (Thomas) Shepard, Glenn (Dawn) Hilburn; two brothers, Johnny Jones and Butchie Jones; 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. A special thanks to Annette Griffey and Connie Barnett for taking special care of our mother. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens, on Monday, February 10, 2014. Visitation will start at 12 noon. Burial will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
