Mrs. Betty Jean (Parten) Walker longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years Vernon Carl Walker, parents Elijah Small and Nora Bell Haygood Parten, and sisters, Mary Ruth, Winnie Fred and Sue.
She was born in Carey, MS and raised in Demopolis, AL. She moved to Mobile in the 11th grade. She was an active member of Moffett Road Baptist Church and was an example to her children and others on how to live a Christian life. Because of her faith in Jesus, she will forever enjoy God's promise of eternal life.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her children Linda Barnett (Dennis), Brenda Simons (Greg), Vivian Rivas (Robin) and Ralph Walker (Emily). She is also survived by sisters Bobbie Parten of Dadeville, AL and Lounette Pruitt of Demopolis, AL, eight grandchildren; Alicia, Eli, Lauren, Christine, Dale, William, Leah and James, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
