Beverly A. Fowlkes

30 December, 1930 – 3 September, 2021
IN THE CARE OF

Radney Funeral Home - Mobile

Beverly Jean Adams Fowlkes passed away peacefully Friday, September 3, 2021, at the age of 90. A lifelong resident of Mobile, she was born December 30, 1930. She attended St. Joseph and St. Mary elementary schools, and graduated high school from The Visitation Academy, in their last graduating class in 1948. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life and during that time was a member of St. Joseph, St. Mary, St. Pius X, St. Dominic, and St. Ignatius Parishes in Mobile.

She was a member of the Burse Club, and was a long-time, active member of the Serra Club of the Archdiocese of Mobile. She was an active volunteer in Scouting as her children were growing up. She worked at the FBI, Duke Realty, and most recently until her retirement, in the family business Automated Payroll Centers.

Beverly was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Vernon E. Fowlkes; her infant daughter, Beverly Jean; her parents, Josephine Natale ("Natalie") Wilkins Adams and Oliver Edward Adams, Jr.; and her brother, Rev. Msgr. Oliver E. Adams, all of Mobile.

She is survived by her children: Vernon E. Fowlkes, Jr. (Mary), Stephen O. Fowlkes, Catherine Fowlkes Potter; her grandchildren: Alice F. Nolen (Brad), Helen F. Moore (Claude), and Thomas J. Fowlkes (Jenna); and six great-grandchildren: Baylor and Samuel Nolen; Caroline, Clara and James Fowlkes; and Grace Aurelia Moore.

Due to the surging Covid conditions Beverly's service will be private, for the immediate family only. The family hopes the time will come when it will be safe to have a public memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Msgr Oliver E. Adams Scholarship Fund of the McGill-Toolen Foundation; or to the Visitation Monastery.
