
She was a 1941 graduate of Visitation Academy then attended Loyola University of New Orleans, Louisiana, graduating in 1945. Miss Wood was a lifelong member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, a resident of Allen Memorial and a current member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She retired from Southern Hardware as a bookkeeper. A loving sister and aunt, Miss Wood will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered for her generosity and hospitality. At family gatherings when it was time to do the dishes, she commandeered at the sink.
Miss Wood was preceded in death by her parents, John Woodson Wood, Jr. and Carmela Brincat Wood; her sister, Dorothy Angela Wood; her brother, John Woodson Wood, III; her aunt, Gertrude Agnes Brincat; her great-aunt, Dora Sexton; her brother-in-law, Rhea Patterson Silvernail; and nephew, Jeffrey Paul Silvernail.
Survivors include her sister, Gloria Wood Silvernail of Mobile; her brother, Paul Darron (Nancy) Wood, Sr. of Fairhope; her sister-in-law, Eloise Braswell Wood of Fairhope; her nieces and nephews whom she considered her own, John Rhea (Cindi) Silvernail, Carmela Silvernail (Pat) Marston, Lois Angela Silvernail, Paul Darron (Marilyn) Wood, Jr., Janet Elaine Silvernail, Renee Wood (Gary) Anderson, Sheila Wood (Ned) Egbert, Teri Wood (Steve) Brooks, Patrick Lee (Shannon) Silvernail, John Woodson (Susan) Wood, Jr., and David Paul Wood; eleven great-nieces, ten great-nephews, six great, great-nieces, and two great, great-nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 12:45 p.m. with visitation following until service time. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
