Catherine Shepard Burns Foster

Catherine Shepard Burns Foster, a lifelong resident of Mobile, passed away March 9, 2024, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Heubach Foster, her son Charles Heubach Foster, Jr and her parents, Frances and Thomas Burns. She is survived by five daughters, Mary Catherine Pipkin (Edward) of Panama City, Florida, Frances Anne Foster of Mobile, Charlotte Longfield (Stephen) of Fairhope, Vivian Lovorn of Birmingham, Margaret Lotz (Thomas) of Madison and two sons, Charles Joseph Foster (Debbie) of Acworth, GA and Thomas Burns Foster (Tina) of Mobile. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren – Leigh Davis, Lindsey Modica, Chase Pipkin, Stephen and Kate Longfield, Sarah Garcia, Rachel and Emily Foster, Thomas and Donya Foster, Matthew Bowen, Timothy and Matthew Lovorn, Shepard, Spencer, John Collier and Sophie Lotz and 11 great grandchildren. Catherine was born in Mobile on December 7, 1930, was a graduate and the final valedictorian of the Visitation Monastery High School and attended Mary Washington University and St. Mary of the Woods College. Before marrying, she worked at Gulf Coast Marine Supply Company, then dedicated herself to raising her family. She was a devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church for more than 50 years and active in the Alpine Hills Garden Club for many years.

Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery on Wednesday, March 13 from 12:30 – 2:00, followed by a service in the chapel at 2:00.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 1400 Joyce Road, Mobile, AL or Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Mobile.
