Charles Lanier Glenn

Charles Lanier Glenn (Popi) passed away surrounded by family in Mobile AL on July 14, 2020 at the age of 95. He was born August 27, 1924 in Tuscumbia Alabama. He attended Sheffield High School. He then met his wife Exie L. Davis and they were married on October 10, 1943 in Iuka Mississippi for 64 years. Charles started out working at a young age for his father’s dairy Glenview Farms in Tuscumbia Alabama. Once Charles & Exie moved to Sheffield, he began his career in insurance for Liberty National. They made their home in Village 1 having 2 children, Brenda & Rick Glenn. Their family was a member of Annapolis Avenue Church of Christ. Charles & Exie then moved to Tuscaloosa where they opened an International House of Pancakes. He then enjoyed their time owning the Quicksnak on the University of Alabama campus & cheering on the Tide. After his retirement, Charles & Exie split time to be in Mobile AL to be with their son & Hollywood FL to spend time with their daughter. Charles & his wife ended up settling in Mobile where they enjoyed being faithful members of Regency Church of Christ. Charles enjoyed serving in Lion’s Club up until the age of 90. He also was a volunteer for hospitals in Tuscaloosa, Mobile & Hollywood throughout his years. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Irwin & Clara Glenn; his brother, Dan Glenn (Billie); his sister, Eleanor Makin (John); his wife, Exie D. Glenn; and his son, Charles Richard Glenn (Mary Jo). Charles is survived by his daughter, Brenda Dee (Jon); and his grandchildren, Kimberly Roper (Scott), Glenn Dee, Corry Glenn (Meghan) and Ricki Klyce (Blake). He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Jack Roper, Lucy Roper, Charlie Glenn & Mary Lanier Klyce. The family is thankful for Ursula Butler who was his caretaker for his last three years. The family will have a visitation on Saturday July 18, 2020 at Pine Crest Funeral Home at 12:00 followed by a graveside service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Regency Church of Christ in his name.
