

Charles Edwin Hinton “Chuck”, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on April 14, 1944, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Noah B. Hinton II and Katie Sandifer Hinton.
Chuck was a talented athlete who received two football scholarships – one to Pearl River Jr. College and another to the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. After completing his degree, he and his wife, Jean, moved to Meridian, Mississippi, where Chuck started his career as a building materials rep for Johns-Manville. After many wonderful years raising his family in Texas, he and Jean moved back to Mobile, Alabama where he became the proud owner of Hinton’s Painting Service taking great pride in his work and dedication to his craft.
In addition to being an avid tennis player with a blistering serve, Chuck liked to stay active by helping anyone who needed a favor that required physical labor and know-how. His commitment to health and engagement with life inspired those around him.
Chuck was also a devoted member and Deacon at Luke 4:18 Fellowship, where he served with dedication and love. His faith and his church family were an integral part of his life. He found joy in supporting his community through his service.
The greatest loves of Chuck’s life were his family—especially his wife, children, and grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in their accomplishments. His deep love for his family was evident in everything he did, and they will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Adams Hinton; his children, Shannon Hinton (Larry) Davis and Scott Charles (Deborah) Hinton; his grandchildren, Katie Davis, Mercedes Hinton, and Noah Hinton; and his brother, David (Judith) Hinton. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty Crenshaw, Anne Adams (Joe) White, Sharon Hinton, and his brothers-in-law, Spencer "Jug" (BJ) Adams, Frank Graham, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, N.B. Hinton II and Katie Sandifer Hinton, his brothers Blanchard Hinton and Glenn Hinton, his brother-in-law James Crenshaw, his sister-in-law Sumner Graham, and his brother-in-law Ronnie Everett.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hinton, Noah Hinton, Spence Adams, Kirk Crenshaw, Jim Crenshaw, and Jonathan Lankford. Honorary pallbearers will be Jug Adams, Meredith Smith, David Hinton, Joe White, Frank Graham, Larry Davis, and Justin Boylan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Luke 4:18 Fellowship at 12 noon. A visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Joshua Building Fund at Luke 4:18 Fellowship.
Chuck will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
