

Charles Stanley McGahagin, 74, a native of Saraland and resident of Spanish Fort, died in Spanish Fort, AL on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Charles attended Satsuma High School and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably and was decorated with many medals and honors, retiring as Quarter Master Chief “SSN” after nearly 4 decades. He was Treasurer of the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association, member of the Submariner Club Diesel Boats, USS Drum Sub Vets, The United States Submarine Veterans Inc., and many other esteemed organizations. Charles also retired from Mobile Gas Corporation after 36 years as an Industrial Supervisor. Charles loved the United States Navy, his country, Alabama football, and his family. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Day McGahagin; his father, OS McGahagin; mother, Mary McGahagin; and son, Daniel Vaughn. Survived by his brothers, Mike McGahagin and RD McGahagin; son, Sean McGahagin; daughters, Janna Brown and Beth Brock; grandchildren, Kailan Davis, Garret Crawley, William Vaughn, Georgia Vaughn, Bailey Brown, and Regan Brown; and other family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a Chapel Service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, graveside immediately following in Pine Crest Cemetery.
