With heavy hearts but joyful spirits we share that Charles Gleason "Charlie" Powers entered into Heaven on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Charlie was born in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on October 1, 1925. He was raised in both Selma and Pine Hill Alabama. He lived in Mobile the majority of his adult life. He served in the Merchant Marines and was employed by National/Pan Am airlines. Charlie was a devoted Alabama fan and an avid golfer. He earned the nickname "the machine" from several of his golfing buddies. Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivien Crain Powers, and his second wife Barbara Pike Powers, his dear children, Jill Powers Smyly and Mark Powers. He is survived by his brother Nelson Cannon, his children Vivien Powers Windsor (Stan, deceased), Lynn Powers Little (Tom), Drexell Pike Sullivan (Mike) and Derek Pike (Kathy). He leaves ten grandchildren, numerous great-grand children, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to send special thanks to his devoted niece Warrene Hall, Southern Care Hospice nurses, and the "young people" at Mars Hill. He will be sorely missed but we will savor the wonderful memories he has given us. A memorial service will be held at Radney's Funeral Home, Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Childfund International. https://www.childfund.org/Ways-To-Donate/
