Claire Elizabeth Briggs - was born on April 10, 1996, and died on July 16, 2012. She was a junior at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School, attended St. Dominic's elementary school, and was a member of St. Phillip Neri & St. Ignatius Catholic Churches. Claire is survived by her parents, Gina and Bart Briggs; her best friend and sister, Mallory Briggs; Jake her beloved dog, Gloria her fish, Crawford her cat and Justin, her faithful and ever-protective horse. She is also survived by her grandparents, Gerald and Sandra Roy; great grandmother, Bernice Segura; aunts and uncles, Vicki (Rick) Majewski, Dave (Denise) Roy and Barry (Darlene) Briggs; cousins, Kevin and Ross Majewski as well dozens of other cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends. Claire was a true and genuine friend to all who knew her. She met and kept lifetime friends wherever she went. She was vibrant, spirited, and had a heart that accepted everyone. At a young age she already had an uncanny ability to know what truly mattered in life. She admired and loved her sister Mallory, and was a true animal lover who tried to find a home to animals that needed one. Claire was an accomplished horse rider, placing at the national level in Equestrian Eventing, and so loved her horsey friends. Claire Bear also loved the water and her river friends dearly, and will be sorely missed at the cold-hole. People who truly knew her will remember her constant smile, her friendliness and her easy ability to make people laugh. She was goofy, kind, courageous, extremely generous, and had little time for the world's petty distractions. Her passing has left an enormous gouge in the lives of her family, her animals, and her friends, and she will be sadly missed for eternity. Be with God, our dear Claire, for you are surely among the angels and this world didn't deserve you. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Claire Elizabeth Briggs to either the Mobile SPCA Guardian Angels at 620 Zeigler Circle West Mobile, AL 36608, or The McGill-Toolen Foundation at 1501 Old Shell Road Mobile, AL 36604.
