After 27 years in the family, I think of him as a second Dad. He was a hard worker and great provider for his family. He loved his family and put them first, just like my Dad. I'm sure he and my Dad are having a great time with Mary laughing and joking around. I'm going to miss him...Love, "Flynn's Donna"

Pawpaw always greeted me with the biggest smile & his arms reaching out for love! He welcomed me & my girls into his family as his own. He always made all of the grandchildrens ball games until he couldn't drive anymore & then we would pick him up to go. He really enjoyed those days... I watched him humbly take care of his daughter Mary with tears in his eyes until we had to help take over that duty from him as well. He did for everyone until he couldn't physically do it anymore but he would still try. I'm so thankful for being able to love him like my father for as long as he still knew who I was & to have so many wonderful memories with him. He's one of the best! 

When I was a boy, Clyde was my Buddy, my Firefighter Hero, a Coach, and like a Big Brother to me. As I grew older, he tried to make as many of my games that he could. He always encouraged me to make good decisions and do the right things. After finishing high school I joined the military then returned home and started classes at South Alabama. Clyde and I talked about taking the exam for the fire department, which I did and I was hired. It was a smart thing for me to do. I had the opportunity to work with Captain Christian on Co. 8. He was a great firefighting Captain. He taught me so much about fighting fire. I then had the opportunity to work with District Chief Christian when he was in Dist.4. He was such an outstanding supervisor. His orders were rarely   questioned because everyone knew that he would never put someone where he would not go himself. He had a true knowledge of fire behavior and fire attack, so he was an excellent fire ground leader. He will truly be missed by all who really knew him and cared for him like me and by so many past and present members of the department. They just don't make firefighters like Clyde anymore, who led by example. He had two sons that he raised that both reached the rank of Fire Captain before they retired from the Mobile Fire-Recue Department. He had another son who served on the Mobile Police Department a good number of years before leaving the department to seek some business opportunities in the private sector. I want to extend my Prayers and Deepest Condolences to Ms. Jessie and All of the Christian Family. You Guys Have All Lost Such a Wonderful Man. With All My Love, Larry

Uncle Clyde was such an example of strength and gentleness combined. He was always hard working and dedicated to his family. I know that he influenced so many people just by the way he lived and loved his family and the light he had that came from his relationship with Christ. A really good man. My prayers are with Aunt Jessie and all the family. Love you all.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I know from my many years working with Lori and Anne that Mr. Christian was a wonderful man from the many wonderful stories that they told of him.  He no doubt loved all of you so very much and of course his beautiful bride of so many years; I know he will be greatly missed. We are very sorry for your loss. I told my father, Horace (Smitty) Smith, who was friends with Clyde when they were both firemen many years ago. He sends his condolences, also.

Such a great guy. I worked with Clyde many years on MFD and also at Sears on our off days. Clyde was a great family man, a firefighters chief and a true friend whom I will miss. Our deepest condolences to Jessie and the family.

My fathers last words !! I'm dying. I love you to my Mother and I'm not afraid !! " If you have a relationship with God through Jesus you won't fear death. My Dads last hour on earth was not his final. Sunday was his birthday into eternal life !! The Bible says " This world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven."
