

Connie P. Nelson of Mobile Alabama, born on March 1, 1949 to her late parents Monroe Powell,Sr and Henrietta Powell. Her brother Donell Powell, daughters Linda Lee and Loretta Lee, Grandchildren Roshandia Haygood and Yaphet Hunter preceded her in death.
Connie, a longtime resident of Theodore, Alabama, was deeply loved by her community and neighbors. She spent many years working as a cook at ARA in Brookley Field and later as a housekeeper at Comfort Inn & Suites.
Connie’s greatest joy in life was caring and cooking for her family. She was well-known for her dedication to preparing delicious meals, especially her famous gumbo and sweet potato pies. For years, she lovingly made them for anyone who asked—no one ever left her kitchen hungry or without a smile.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her husband, Willie L. Nelson: her children, son Charles Lee; A devoted daughter Brenda (Bennie) Oliver; her siblings, Roosevelt Harris, Dorothy Powell, Vernessa Powell, Monroe(Catherine)Powell,Jr, Robert Powell, Elizabeth Powell, Angelina(Terrell) Davis, and Mario(Aunetia)Powell.; her Sisters-in-laws Jannie Nelson and Shirley Nelson.; her grandchildren, Christina(Yahshatar)Lee, Sebastian Lee, Elena Lee, Gwendolyn Lee, Shaquana Haygood, Andreda Lee, Andrew Lee, Markus Lee, Antonio(Kali)Ringold, Richard Oliver, and Harry Mathews.; 31 Great-grandchildren 3 devoted Kira, CeCe, and Breezy. One Great-Great-Grandchild. A host of beloved Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel at Pine Crest Funeral Home. The family will accept friends from 9:30 until 11 prior to the service. burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.
