

David Jinks Singleton, a native of Putnam, Alabama, and longtime resident of Mobile died on January 22. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ann Singleton, and his brother, Robert F. Singleton, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bernice Stuckey Singleton; son, David Scott Singleton (Kim) of Mobile; grandson, David Allen Singleton; three nephews, William H. Singleton (Sherhea), Robert F. Singleton, Jr. (Tracy), and Matthew J. Singleton (Cammie); and brother-in-law James McGahan. Upon graduating from Sweet Water High School, Mr. Singleton attended college at Livingston until being accepted into the Alabama State Trooper Cadet Program. He served thirty years as an Alabama State Trooper with twenty-six years of his service in the Mobile area serving in the Patrol and Driver License Divisions. He retired in 1990 as a Trooper Corporal. Mr. Singleton then became a Federal Court Security Officer, serving the U. S. District Court, Southern District of Alabama, for twenty-four years. He was active in the Mobile community serving as a youth sports coach at Mims Park, an usher at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, and attended Dauphin Way Baptist Church. He was a life-long member of Putnam Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Putnam Baptist Church (HWY 69, Thomasville, AL. 36784) on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Putnam Cemetery (Bunny Creek Rd., Thomasville, AL. 36784). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Putnam Baptist Church, c/o Pastor Brooks Etheridge, 44 Bunny Creek Road, Thomasville, AL. 36784 or to the charity of choice.
