Elin Carol Griggs passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama. She was 86. Elin was born to Edward Dieterle and Agnes Hoffman Dieterle on December 9, 1938, in Erie, Pennsylvania, but was a long-time resident of Mobile. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harry Griggs, who was an avid golfer and a member of the Incas Mardi Gras Organization. Elin loved Mardi Gras as much as Harry and was a member of the Polka Dots for many fun-filled years. She loved the parades and the balls that followed. Elin was a local real estate agent and loved finding families their forever homes. She will be deeply missed by family, her dog Abby, and all that knew her.
Elin is survived by her two daughters, Sherry (Robert) Burford and Janny (Jeff) McKenzie, both of Mobile; a son, Jeff (Mary) Gehrlein of Hopewell Junction, New York; five grandchildren: Ashley (Lewis) Dunnam, Jake Burford, Kelsey (JT) Arrington, of Mobile, and Devan Gehrlein, Danielle Gehrlein, Sarah Gehrlein, of Hopewell Junction, New York; three great-grandchildren, Kenzie (Isaac)McCrory, Lainey Dunnam, and Ruby Arrington of Mobile, Alabama; as well as other cherished family and friends.
