

Elizabeth Matt Montgomery was born on May 3, 1942 to the late Sam and Loraine Matt in Arlington, Alabama. She transitioned from this life to Life Eternal on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in Detroit, Michigan. She confessed Christ at an early age by attending Pine Level Baptist Church in Arlington, Alabama. She attended Annie Maine High School, then moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1959. She later joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Daphne, Alabama where she served faithfully on the Matrons Ministry. She retired from Westminister Village as a dedicated certified nurse assistant. And she later started working at Bayside Academy Grill and Tender Care Caregivers. Elizabeth was united in marriage to James Montgomery on June 23, 1959 and was blessed with seven children through this union. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Loraine Gilyard Matt; her son, Sergeant Timothy James Montgomery, her granddaughter, Chelsea Montgomery, and two siblings, Rose Lee Stanton and Sam Matt, Jr., and three brother-in-law, Billy Logan, Jim Cook and Elijah Wright. She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband for 55 years, James Montgomery; 6 children, Reverend Larry (Cynthia) Montgomery, David Montgomery, Clifton (Geraldine) Montgomery, Christa Montgomery, Kelvin Montgomery, all of Daphne, Alabama and Tiffany (Bishop Daniel) Richardson of Huntsville, Alabama; Six sisters, one brother, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Daphne, AL. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Interment will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery.
