

Emmie Fair Carter (nee McClinton Murphy) a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Inzer Huston Carter, her parents, Elliot and Nora McClinton, a sister Elizabeth (Bess) Shofner, two brothers Cecil (CC) McClinton and Joseph McClinton and her first husband Rexford Earl Murphy. Mrs. Carter is survived by her children Marsha Fair Stuckey of Mobile, Alabama, Rexford E. Murphy of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Terry H. Carter of Williamsburg, Virginia. She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter was born on July 26, 1922 in Perdido, Alabama and graduated from Baker High School. Following World War II she worked for many years in the personnel placement industry first for the Alabama State Employment Office and later for long’s Personnel. Her children remember her best for her loving guidance and cheerful approach to life. She was a beautiful and gracious southern lady who always loved entertaining her neighbors and friends and she loved to dance.
We thank God, that as believers, we know that absence of the body is presence with the Lord! We miss you already, but we are extremely comforted to know you are with our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ!
