
A native of Mobile County, born on September 16, 1921, she graduated Murphy High School and married in 1941. In addition to working for several local businesses in her lifetime, Connick Brothers' Grocery, Kress, Woolworth, and Robert Hall, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (GiGi) who cherished her family. Mrs. Connick was a devout Catholic and member of the League of the Sacred Heart, Apostleship of Prayer since 1945, when her father died, and member of the League of the Blessed Virgin Mary since 1966, when her mother died. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Our Savior Catholic Parish, St. Patrick Catholic Parish, Robertsdale, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish, Mobile.
Mrs. Connick was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vincent Connick, Jr.; grandson, Timothy Shawn Connick; her parents, George Ernest Grube and Julia Louise Kane Grube; her siblings, Dorothy Grube, Annie Grube Hartley, Julia Mae Grube Blackwell, Thelma Grube Gale, George Grube, and Ernest Grube.
Mrs. Connick is survived by her children: Joseph Vincent Connick, III (Mary Leveral); Edward Gerald Connick (Carol); Bernard Vernon Connick (Nancy); Brenda Connick Vanderbeck; Julie Connick Kuhn (Doug) of Millport, AL; and her sister, Rosemary Grube Huff (Jack). She also leaves her grandchildren: Jimmy, Joseph IV, and Kevin Connick; Stacey Dunn and Gary Connick; Karen Carlisle and Stephen Connick; Amy Rogers and Lisa Vanderbeck; and Jason and Scott Kuhn, along with their spouses and her great-grandchildren: Patrick, Maggie, Chandler, Gabrielle, Timothy, Foster, Luke, Kaylee, Natalie, Melissa, Sawyer, Clayton, Brooks, Lauree, Logan, Gracie, Drake, and Hamilton on the way; along with a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, from 5 to 8 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 1260 Elmira Street, with interment in Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of Ethel's favorite charities: The Mobile Priests' Burse Club (400 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36602), the Apostleship of Prayer (3211 South Lake Dr., Suite 216, Milwaukee, WI 53235), the Rileigh & Raylee Angel-Ride foundation or Raylee & Christian Medical Fund (P.O.
