Evelyn "Ebbie" M. McCarthy

Evelyn "Ebbie" M. McCarthy, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at a local health care facility. Mrs. McCarthy attended St. Vincent dePaul Catholic School and was awarded a scholarship to Bishop Toolen Catholic School where she graduated in 1939. She was a member of several Mardi Gras Societies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard Gaines McCarthy, her sister Kathryn "Kitsy" Barnes, her brother Charles Bolling Moody, Jr., and one grandson, Ronald "Ronnie" Collins, Jr. Mrs. McCarthy is survived by her six children, Delores "Lowie" (Ken) Rice of Mobile, AL, Janet (Harrell) Rodgers of Mobile, AL, Barbara "Bobbie" (Albert) Campbell of Mobile, AL, Karen "K K" (Leonard) Davis of Mobile, AL, Deborah "Debbie" (Kevin) Greene of Mobile, AL and Richard "Rick" (Cindy) McCarthy, Jr. of Mobile, AL, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren , one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00. Interment will be at Pine Crest Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Allen Memorial Home for the care they have given Mrs. McCarthy for the past six years and also thank the staff at Comfort Care Hospice.
