Frances Blount McDonnell

Frances Blount McDonnell, of Orange Beach, entered into rest Sunday, February 7, 2016, at a local hospital. She was 82. Memorial services will be Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Thomas by the Sea Catholic Church at Orange Beach at 1 PM. The family will receive friends Saturday at Heron Pointe at the Wharf at Orange Beach immediately following the service.

Frances was born August 4, 1933 in Millry, AL, to the late Mardis M. Blount, Sr. and Ola Reed Blount. She was a resident of Mobile and Orange Beach, AL. She served as a registered nurse in Mobile for many years, and then moved permanently to Orange Beach at retirement. Frances was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Blount Rosson and Carolyn Hemingway, and a brother, Mardis M. Blount, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. McDonnell, Sr., two children, Thomas Julian (Mary Jane) McDonnell, Jr. and Arthur E. (Brenda) McDonnell, her grandson, Shawn Patrick McDonnell, two brothers, Fred Blount and Rufus G. Blount, a sister, Pat Hill, and many friends, nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations for Frances be made to Catholic Charities.
