Gabrielle Henriette Scarcliff “Ree”, 84, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Foley, Alabama. She was born to Pierre and Carmelia Allochis on March 20, 1936, in Lemayon, a village in Marseille, France. Ree set sail for Mobile, Alabama in 1953 to join two of her sisters – and Alabama has been her home ever since. She married Glenn Scarcliff on January 12, 1957, and together they had three children. Ree and Glenn owned and operated Baldwin Biscuit Company for 16 years, distributing Nabisco products. She loved her Lord and His Word with all her heart. Ree was an avid gardener, and a master seamstress – her family hailed her to be the best cook in the world! But in all honesty, she was the best wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could have ever asked for, and she will be greatly missed.
Ree was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre Louis Allochis and Carmelia Calabrese Allochis; as well as twelve siblings.
Left to cherish her memories is her loving and adoring husband of nearly 64 years, Glenn Scarcliff; her three children, Glenda Ree Romano (Ben), Donald E. Scarcliff, and Micheline Little (Michael); five grandchildren, Zachary T. Lawson (Julie), Nathaniel L. Haddock (Amanda), Danielle F. Helms (Wriston), Chelsea E. Thornhill (Justin), and Olivia M. Scarcliff; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Carmen Lai; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Ree will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile, Alabama with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
