Mr. Gary Wilson Covan, Sr., age 67, a native of Prichard, AL and longtime resident of Tanner Williams, AL, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Covan is preceded in death by Robert Woodrow Wilson and Frances Louise Smith Covan. He was a graduate of Vigor High School and attended Faulkner State Junior College. He retired after many years of service with McAleer Computer Associates, Inc. After his retirement from sales and marketing, he also worked with MH3 Printing and Williams Financial Group, among other companies on the Gulf Coast. Mr. Covan was a former member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Huquenot Society of South Carolina and Sons of Confederate Veterans. His pride in his work was only surpassed by his love for God, family, friends and country. He loved nature, animals in particular, the great outdoors and photography, working at one time for John Bright Photography. His steadfast work ethic was well known and respected. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Wilson Covan and sons, Gary “Bo” Covan and John “Skip” Covan. He is also survived by his sisters, Frances “Gi Gi” Janice Waite, Patricia “Bobbi” Irene Elliott, twin granddaughters, Abigail Elizabeth and Eliana Elise Covan, niece Stephanie Michelle Jessee, his beloved pet cat, “Woofie” and numerous other family members. The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Care Hospice nurses, doctors, and staff for their loving care and kindness and further express heartfelt and sincere appreciation to the many friends and co-workers for their kindness and support especially through his long and courageous battle, especially Patrick Hand and Mark Travis of MH3 Printing and Billy Williams of Williams Financial who stayed close to Gary and his family. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Chapel services will be in the Oakleigh Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Pine Crest West, Snow Rd., Mobile, AL. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Williams, Patrick Hand, Mark Travis, Benjamin Bates, Andrew Bates and Matt Leon.
