

She was predeceased by her parents Clyde Story and Elizabeth Story, two brothers: Ronald A. Story and William Aubrey Story.
Left to cherish Gloria's beautiful memories will be her beloved husband of sixty years; Gerald Deakle of Mobile, Alabama, her son; Michael Gregory Deakle of Toledo, Ohio, her daughter; Deborah Lynn Mason (Eddie Bishop) of Mobile, Alabama, one bother; Bob Story (Janet) of Augusta, Georgia, two sisters: Glenda Wortham of Augusta, Georgia, Sara Garrard of Richmond Hill, Georgia, two grandsons: Tobin Reed Howard, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, Devin Wayne South, of Corinth, Mississippi, four great-grandchildren: Kozie, Skylynn, Columbiana, Jaelynn South of Corinth, Mississippi, with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and numerous wonderful friends.
Gloria retired from International Paper Company, Standard Products Division after 33 years. Her second career was with the University of South Alabama College of Medicine for 13 years. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church for many years. Gloria's hobby was reading & she read numerous books. She enjoyed extensive European travel and a number of cruises with her husband.
Rev. Shaun Kaulfers, Christ United Methodist Church, will conduct the family service at the Alabama Veterans Cemetery/Columbarium in Spanish Fort, Alabama on January 11, 2023.
