2021, at the age of 68. Born in Mobile on August 16, 1952, Crawford was
the son of Mack B. Binion, Jr., and Glenn Crawford Binion Leatherbury.
After graduating from UMS-Wright, Crawford received his Bachelor of Arts
Degree in English and History from Vanderbilt University where he was a
member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. In 1974 Crawford left his
beloved “Dores” in Nashville and moved to Los Angeles where he plied his
numerous talents in various roles in the film industry; principally in screen
writing. Crawford was a lifelong member of The Writers Guild of America.
Crawford returned to Mobile in the late-1980’s and dedicated his talents to
what would become a long and successful career in advertising and
marketing. In 2004, and like his Grandfather and name-sake Harry
Glenn Crawford, Crawford established the advertising and
marketing firm, Hummingbird Ideas, Inc. Hummingbird’s successes
were attributable to Crawford’s quiet creativity, his ever-present smile,
and his impromptu sense of humor.
Crawford is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Hedberg Binion, who
lovingly and painstakingly cared for Crawford through his courageous battle
with cancer.
In addition to his numerous friends and his loyal Staff and Associates at
Hummingbird, Crawford is survived by his sister, Donna McFall (Don); his
brother, Mack Binion (Judy); his nieces, Katherine Perrow (Moseby); Anna
Mayeske (Jon); Mary Groves (Carter); and his nephew, Bruner Binion
(Hadley).
A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30
p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Mobile SPCA would be appreciated; including that
of Crawford’s loyal and faithful companion, Harley.
