
Mr. Ray was a member of the Davidson High School Class of 1979 where he excelled in athletics and was known for his keen ability on the football field, lettering his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Mr. Ray studied music theory at Dallas College Richmond Campus.
He was an active member of Government Street Presbyterian Church where he married his bride in June of 1985.
He worked in the oil and gas industry as an expert petroleum landman.
Paul was known as a virtuoso, an incredibly talented bassist, and vocalist. He was a member of numerous bands including Little Wing, The Mudsharks, Touche’, Seasaw, Excalibur, Chapter 11, The Daylights and Cakewalk.
Paul was wholeheartedly devoted to his beloved family and led them to be good at life, to celebrate and generate love, and to understand that that is where our nourishment comes from. He taught us to cultivate the best version of our family and he held a love for God, family, and his friends where faith always remained at the forefront of everything. He taught us to stand for what is fair and good.
Mr. Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Tyson Ray, sons, Harry Paul Ray Jr. and Hunter Tyson Ray, his greatest treasure. He is also survived by his cousins, Steve and Jimmy Lester, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Ray is preceded in death by his beloved father, Harry Ray Jr., his mother, Barbara Ray, and sister, Joyce.
The family would like to thank all their devoted family and friends for their love, support, and prayers with special thanks to The Reverend Rebekah Able Lamar and congregation of Government Street Presbyterian Church.
Services will be held at Government Street Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
