

Helen Harris Carpenter, age 83, born in Millport, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL passed away peacefully at Mobile Infirmary on April 19, 2017 to be with her Heavenly Father that she so faithfully served. She was a 1951 graduate of Murphy High School. Helen was a devoted member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church where she was very active in choir, Waiters Sunday School Class, The 55 Plus Group and many organizations. Helen loved to travel the world and was an amazing cook who always had something sweet baked for anyone who stopped by. Puzzles were a favorite pastime; she would love the challenge of the word Jumble and daily crossword in the newspaper. She loved watching football and spending precious time with her family. Funeral services for Helen Carpenter will be held at Radney Funeral Home located on Dauphin Street Monday April 24, 2017. Visitation will be 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with services following at Radney’s at 1:00 pm. A graveside service and burial will be at Springbank Cemetery in Chatom, AL, Monday April 24, 2017 at 3:00 pm. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Edgar and Birtie Bee Harris, her husband J.W. Carpenter, two brothers Mike Harris and R.L. Harris. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughter, Marie Carpenter Sorel (Ian). Grandson, Zak Sorel, who was her pride and joy. Three sisters Dot Watson, Diboll, TX; Betty Downing, Quitman, MS and Birtie Rester (Marshall) Mobile, AL. Numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many numerous friends and loved ones who blessed her with many years of laughter and love. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cottage Hill Baptist Church or Cottage Hill Christian Academy in her honor. Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, Mobile, AL.
