

Imie Fabre McGinnis – Passed away peacefully at her home in Mobile on December 6, 2017. She was born August 23, 1917 in Bay St. Louis, MS to Frank Sylvester Fabre and Pearl Carrio Fabre. She was raised in Mobile, attended local Catholic schools including Bishop Toolen High School. She graduated from the Providence Hospital School of Nursing and enjoyed a long career primarily in nursing administration at Providence. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Henry Michael McGinnis, two sons-in-law, David Lee and Will Schroeder, one daughter-in-law, Louise Rome McGinnis and nine siblings, Pearl Fabre, Verna Fabre Grable, Bee Fabre Hamby, Margie Fabre Hansen, Frank Fabre, Harold Fabre, Bill Fabre, Timmy Fabre, and Joyce Fabre James. She is survived by her six children: Mary McGinnis Leslie (Bill), Cate McGinnis Pierce (Jim), Mike McGinnis, David McGinnis (Nancy), Peggy McGinnis Lee, and Beth McGinnis Schroeder; fourteen grandchildren: Bo Leslie, Rob Leslie (Leslie), Leigh Ann Leslie Webster, Meg Leslie Roberds (Alan), John Clark, Tracy Clark Loguidice, Sean McGinnis, Scott McGinnis, Daniel McGinnis (Kelly), Michael McGinnis, Jamie Lee Farrimond (Derald), David Lee, Chad Patterson (Ashlea), and Greg Patterson (Amy); fifteen great-grandchildren: Alex Leslie, Olivia and Katie Leslie, Emma, Gwyneth, and Natalie Webster, Mack and Henry Roberds, Evin Logiudice, Emory and Leila McGinnis, Fergus Farrimond, Alex and Connor Patterson, and Edrie Patterson; one sister, Kitty Fabre Zagaruyka and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She and Henry raised their large family with strong values along with fun times of waterfront vacations together learning to sail and catching crabs, lively dinner table discussions, and so many wonderful celebrations of holidays, birthdays and important family events. She was much loved and will be sorely missed. Besides devotion to family and career, in her retirement years she was committed to volunteer work and traveling the world. She won numerous volunteer awards and distinctions and chief among the organizations that benefitted from her many talents and time were Catholic Social Services, Ozanam Pharmacy, Project Literacy, Red Cross Disaster Relief, and La Casa de Amigas summer camp. She was an Associate of the Sisters of St. Agnes and served her parish of Little Flower Catholic Church as a lector and in adult education. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at Little Flower Church at 11:00. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Flower Church. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 prior to services.
