James Burnett Botts

James (Jim) Botts, a lifetime resident of Mobile, died on April 18, 2015 at the age of 92. Jim, the youngest son of Virginia Botts Puckett (Angelo) and James Ernest Botts, was dedicated to his family and loved and admired by his many friends and colleagues. He was a very proud veteran of WWII having served in the Navy in the South Pacific where he assisted in the surrender of islands by raising the US flag on the Japanese bases. There began his love of the flag which he proudly displayed in his yard and home. Jim loved his homes on Mobile Bay and on the Lagoon in Gulf Shores where he continued daily swims into his 80’s. He also was proud of being a charter member of one of Mobile’s favorite mystic societies. Jim’s greatest love and accomplishment in life, though, was his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Janice Malone Botts, his daughter Joan Marie Botts, and his parents and siblings, Ernest E. Botts (Mabel) and Katherine L. Botts. He is survived by his Daughter, Janice Botts Lindsey (Gene), Sons, James B. Botts, Jr. (Laura), and Judson M. Botts; his Grandchildren, Brandi C. Lindsey, G. Brian Lindsey (Michelle), Jonathan E. Lindsey, Meredith B. Jordan (Josh), Amanda M. Botts, J. Palmer Botts, J. Parker Botts, Jane-Marie Botts, and his Great Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dylan, Jay, Colton, Jackson, and Miles; his Brother-in-law, James (Jim) W. Malone (Mary), Sister-in-law, Judy M. Jensen (Bill), and Niece, Glynn Botts Case (John). The family would like to thank the staffs of Atria Regency and Springhill Senior Residence for their care, and especially his loving caregiver, Sharoka Stadmire.

Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 10-12, followed by a graveside service.
