James Evariste Champagne, Jr., “Jim”, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama. He was 77 years old. He was born to James Evariste Champagne, Sr. and Avis Johnson Champagne on January 15, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Mobile, Alabama as a child. Jim worked as Systems Manager for the US Probation Office and District Courts for 20 years. He also served as Scout Master for Troop 1. Jim enjoyed coin collecting, stamp collecting, and doing genealogical research.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eddie.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 49 years, Danielle Herring Champagne; his three children, Jay, Chuck, and Alyce (Hiro); sisters, Yvette Cummings, Lori Melvin, and Cathy Champagne; eight nephews; and two nieces.
Visitation for Jim will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
